Loving the wings. They'll look wicked when on. All the pre work will be worth it.

Rubbed one wing down, another coat of primer, then gave it a few coats of paint and another rub down. Couple more coats tomorrow and another rub down and its ready for the top coat. So far I'm happy with it.

Well, I had a week off work recently and the plan was to do some more on this. Instead I didn't touch it, did a little work on the BMW and swapped a window regulator on a friends Golf, other than that I did nothing. Hopefully will carry on with this soon, I have ordered a 100 cell sports cat to go on so even more jobs to do. The sports cat will help at MOT time, and make the car almost road legal again.

MOT was starting to get expensive, plus I hear more and more about VOSA spot checks so thought I'd put a Cat back on. As much as I like it, I need to swap the Blitz exhaust for something quieter too. I need something that complies with track day noise regs.

New downpipe has arrived and I have some heat wrap knocking about somewhere so will wrap it and get it put on when the weather's not shit. Then I'll have a H&S de-cat downpipe to sell as well as my standard catted downpipe. Hopefully that will just about cover the cost of the new downpipe.

Did another rub down and coat of paint to one wing, then another rub down and a couple of coats of clear coat. Also whilst doing that I thought I'd take a look at my bonnet as the lacquer is going all funny. Took the bonnet off:

Stripped it down taking the vent off and the mesh, gave it a going over with some wet and dry to remove marks and clouding. Pic of center vent once rubbed down:

Then gave it a couple of coats of lacquer:

And then it started to spit so am probably going to have to give the parts another rub down and some more coats to get rid of the marks. Didn't get chance to apply top coat to the rest of the bonnet so hoping to do that on Friday if the weather is good. Making progress slowly. Hopefully get that wing finished, then will need more paint for the other one.

Did a little more other week, couple of coats of lacquer to the wing:

And also started the bonnet:

Keep giving it a rub down with bits I'm not happy with and redoing, but ran out of lacquer. Have some more paint and lacquer now so will be able to finish bonnet and other wing. Couple more pics of where I'm at:

Will give the center vent a couple more coats and another on the bonnet, then should be ready for final rub down with different grades of wet and dry. That's the bit I'm not looking forward to as it will take ages to get a nice smooth finish I think. Got plenty of different grades right up to a 2500, will finish off with a machine polish.
