RE: *MAXXD* Ollie's Nissan 200SX S14a
good tip cheers mate!

right...

Before i crack on this morning ive had chanvce just to throw up a few pics of its current state!

Firstly the arch, all the liners are gone (on this side anyway) hammered back a few ridges and bumps too to give clearance for me to go lower, although if you look at my coilies i aint got too much further left Icon_smile Icon_smile Icon_smile

arch is going to be wire brushed and treaded for the patches of surface rust you can see and stone chip protected, just gonna wip the Coilover out later on and begin!

Brakes will be here this week too!

right onto the engine works...

This pic show how the car is currently sat, looks a mess i know but never mind but it gives a clue as to how the yellow is going to work when i come to dressing the bay!

Here is the very stubborn bolt (or whats left of it) that is holding the downpipe to the elbow...thats gonna get whats coming to it very soon......

finally here is a awkward pic of the turbo elbow from underneath the car! you should make out the bolt thats half undone...i havent touched it yet thats it undooing itself over the last few years!!!
you may also pick out a stud...yea that should have had a nut on it but that seems to have dissapeared a long while ago! apparently quite a common occurance on standard elbows with a larger cat back system

RE: *MAXXD* Ollie's Nissan 200SX S14a
hahaha

just showed the downpipe who is boss...Mr angle grinder is boss!

im partially blinded but the thing is off, which enables me to show you why im going through this effort....

cars...Turbo'd ones especially like to have gasses go in and out as quick and efficiently as possible, the 200SX in standard form strangles the car which is why 100bhp is easily available over the standard figure with a few choice mods

obv ive done air filyer and intercooler and i de-catted and threw on the Blitz Nur Sper rear section but the front is where all the strangling is done

The standard downpie has a CAT in it and as you can see from the pics...the bors size and smoothmess of the Apex unit will make such a dufferance...and remmeber i still have the elbow and manifold to go on. thus 1 very unrestrictive 200sx...thus 1 much quicker 200sx!

Old and new pipes

Downside....now i have metal swarf in my eye as well as Lee.....

RE: *MAXXD* Ollie's Nissan 200SX S14a
right...

Top manifold bolts are out so hopefully its just a case of undoing the coolant and oil lines from the block to the turbo then shimmying back underneath to remove the bottom manifold bolts and then the turbo and manifold can come out together and then be split.

Whilst im soaking bolts in WD40 im keen to crack on with the small jobs that make the car, little touches can go along way as i discovered with my numberplate and "USDM" sidelight mod

So, and possibly the only time you will hear me say this....Ive been influenced by something ive seen on a few VAG cars Icon_confused!

following some of them, namely New Golfs, Ibiza, Leons and Passats ive noticed that the rear numberplates tend to be lit up in a bright white light rather than just lit up, so ive spent 5mins and 2 quid swapping the rear numberplate lights so the rear plate will look very "New" style and will light up my uber cool numberplate (which in turn will prob see more blue lights at the back of my car but what can you do!)

simple mod, should look good, clean and fresh!

Whooo!

Really feel like i have had a good day today, got cracked on and am way further than i hoped/ expected!

Thats the turbo, elbow and manifold all off and out the car, a bit awkward and a struggle on your own but i managed it, so feel good for it!

no real major issues to report which is rare, Manifold Gasket looks like it can be reused and ive just got to split the turbo away from the mani and elbow to replace with my new bits!

Once id finished i have also removed the brake line you could see in the pic of my arch ready for my Apex braided ones and hopefully one half of the new brake system will be on this week!

really have got ahead of schedule now, just gotta order a few odds and ends and once its running again mechanically, i can work on making it show worthy Icon_smile

I've done this on my golf too, had em in for a while now and they do look good. Good choice...

LED lights are a top mod, did them on the Astra, did the sidelights to start off with, then got some tower LED's for the foglamps and sorted the rear plate lights out.
