RE: *MAXXD* Ollie's Toyota Corolla T Sport
So, I like to run things a little close, but on a new project I think this was wayyyy to close!

Car went to Neil's for a brake check up and fluid change ahead of it first track sessions at the weekend, the car didn't feel stable under braking and was grabby when pulling away & was also making a slight metallic rattle when my foot wasn't on the middle pedal.

I also gave Nez some Dot 5.1 fluid I had left over from my 200sx when I uprated the brakes on that so intended to swap all the fluid for fresh stuff with a higher boiling point to at least help combat some of the fade.

However...

On removing the rear brakes to put some standard but new pads in, the caliper snapped off, it had corroded through and was now just a paperweight. Frantic calls from Nez managed to find one in stock and get it delivered and fitted yesterday!

As you clan see the pads were beyond gone, but as I have fresh yellowstuffs on order it was silly fitting anything decent in so it was standard cheepos for now.

The discs are also mullered so on top of the front discs I bought, I'm going to purchase the rears to match from Mtech on Monday.

Finally the handbrake is inboard but the backplate and shoes were done for too, so they will need replacing.

So in the next few weeks, this car will have a fully uprated braking system, new discs, race pads, stainless lines, new rear calipers and hand brake ancillaries. She should stop like a dream.

It's an odd thing to do when you want to go fast, to make sure the brakes are good, but that's the best way to start because if you can stop and have confidence in your brakes, youmcan keep your foot in for longer on the straights!

Huge thanks to Neil at Turners Auto Services, I'm sure it was the last thing he needed on a hot Friday but as usual he has done a super job!

This car is already turning Into a money pit, bt I love these projects, and I've a funny feeling Neil is going to have to love it too!
