*MAXXD* Andy's Mazda RX8 'Blue Phantom'
Hey. Bought the car in September 2012. its an SE3P RX8, 'Evolve' model. There is only 100 ever made in Phantom Blue. The rarest RX8 in the UK market. As standard it comes with;
231ps/228bhp 6 Speed Manual Dynamic Stability Control Traction Control Limited Slip Differential Multi link suspension 'Freestyle' door system Unique Phantom Blue mica paint 18" Alloys in dark silver finish Polished aluminium rotary crest in front spoiler B-pillar trim with rotary crest logo polished aluminium air outlet fins metal exhaust surrounds PZ mirrors RX-8 Evolve special edtion badging Front and rear light bezels in dark silver finish Xenon headlights Front fog lights Electrically-operated driver seat heated front seats Stone leather and Alcantara seat trim Black leather steering wheel, gearshift knob and handbrake lever Nine-Speaker BOSE premium audio system with 6-CD autochanger Climate control air con Cat 1 alarm This is how she looked; ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() First thing I did was get rid of the horrible Bridgestone Potenza RE050's. Terrible tyres. I purchased the Yokohama Advan Neova AD08 semi-slick tyres; ![]() ![]() I also had the wintows tinted over at JG; ![]() From there, I then imported the front dam, front mud guards, side aero and rear aero deflectors from America. Here she is with them on; ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() next step was to put a cobrasport exhaust on; ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Unfortunatly, I then took it to a garage and they killed the engine. it was SORN from January this year until about 3 weeks ago. I put D585 uprated coils on the car along with a full engine rebuild. The first thing I noticed is that you have some 'foreign parts' in your engine bay and under the car. Possible something to do with LPG? Certainly none standard and no longer connected. ![]() ![]() ![]() Engine out ![]() ![]() Ancillaries off ![]() ![]() Your sump has been replaced at some point ![]() So has the clutch ![]() The engine stripped down with classic low comp wear ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The irons all looked ok to me. The rotor housings and rotors need a clean before you could tell if they are reusable but I think the e-shaft looks good Dont often see this; both Evolve copper red and my phantom blue together ...
And now we get to today! here she is all clean and polished; ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I don't have any future plans at the moment. I could only put a cold air intake along with a remap on the car but have to wait 6000 miles for the rebuild to run in. Spoiler is going on tomorrow. And that's the story of the Blue Phantom! |
