RE: *MAXXD* Pyro's Subaru Impreza Bugeye
Yeah, guessing I just need to take every bolt/screw out that holds it on, then replace as few as I can with quick release bolts and still have it not drop off.

RE: *MAXXD* Pyro's Subaru Impreza Bugeye
Depending on what happens when you undo the nuts, denotes what you need to do.

If the bumper stays in position with all the bolts undone, then I'd say ALL you need is the clips on the side. Bigcab's front bumper is vertually like that now. The only bolts fastened are the ones to the wings (where those clips go).

The most likely scenario will be the bumper dropping lower at the front once you undo the bolts in the middle. If it does, then you'll need to work out how to stop this. The holes that the bumper goes through will be elongated to allow for slight adjustment up and down. One option would be to sleave the bolts to make them the same size as the holes and no adjustment. Or spots of weld to make the holes smaller.

I think its easily done but probably one of those job you cant say until you start.

Tie wraps. End.

My front bumper is 2 bolts and about 15 tie wraps, you would never know looking at it but every bolt has gone and been replaced with out ziptie friends Icon_smile

I'd thought about zip ties, didn't know if they'd be firm enough though, didn't want everything jiggling about. Suppose the 2 bolts stop movement though?

I was looking at those Dzus bolts, quarter turn and they're out.

RE: *MAXXD* Pyro's Subaru Impreza Bugeye
Could have done with it being done before Sat afternoon, stupid car park...

Anyway...

Ollie suggested just making the splitter removable, which sounds like a better idea, but I don't think I'd be able to tie wrap it back on securely enough, especially with the adjusters pulling it about, plus, thinking about it, I don't think I'd be able to get my hand under with a pair of pliers to cut them off, and there'd be no chance if I'd actually managed to get stuck.

Had a chat with a lad to day about it as he's has his bumper off for spraying, apparently there's loads of bolts/clips holding it on, something a quick shove with my foot confirmed. It didn't move, or even flex, not even a mm, so sounds like it'll be a fun job taking it off...

Just ordered some new clips as the ones I had were those big spring hook ones which I decided weren't going to be sturdy enough, plus they needed like a 10mm bolt at one end, something I wasn't willing to do.

Then just need some connectors for my strobes to make them detachable and I'll be good to go Icon_biggrin

Bumper sits on a cross beam thing with a load of bolts through it. Headlamp out job on a classic, not sure on a bug. Couple of bolts on the sides too. I think it will be fine just clipped at the sides.

Black bar that I've bolted my intercooler to. Probably similar setup on yours.

Pics from last Sunday.

I swear I don't remember lowering it this much... :/

Kinda highlights how badly my wheels need doing (I did them again a couple of days after this too (compensating for understeer that never occurred)) Icon_neutral

CBar arrived but it's too short (I was told a Civic one would fit, turns out I actually needed a CRX one, so some adjustment is needed).
Strobe cables almost re-wired up, just a few little bits to go.
Clips arrived.
Bumper off this weekend (hopefully...).

Also think I'm going to top-coat my CF at some point. I really like the raw/dry look, but I didn't spend all that time/money/effort for it to look like that stupid vinyl >:[

They've all been rolled and flared to get the wheels under, the front driver's side is where I got hit last year.
