RE: *Member* Clare's BigCab
Right did a bit more last night.
Swapped all petrol pipes off the old dirty metering unit to the new shiny one. Gave it a little clean and offered it up. Also offered up the polished oil seperator and couldn't work it out which way it goes so put that back on the shelf. Spoke to Newth today and he's explained how it goes. Next job is to sort out the wiring loom, BEFORE I fit the metering unit properly. I need to paint the servo unit too all before I can carry on with the rebuild. Once that's painted I should be able to get cracked on. I went to scrap yard last wedn3esday to fetch all the lost bolts and obtained some new earth straps and battery leads. Darryl called yesterday too, asking me how I'm getting on cos he wants to get the cab in next month for paint. Oh fuck! I told him I'd try but I recon its going to be early next year before its ready for paint. lol. |

Oh my god, Darryl is pushing. He want anything that will bolt off, so he can make a start.
So the engine bay is taking a back seat, this week I need to take off the car >>>> Front bumper Headlight / grill bonnet boot spoiler boot lid back bumper mirrors And prep them best I can. Spener, when its all done I need to book you for a photo day. Go out and get some good photo when its all shiny and new. |

RE: *Member* Clare's BigCab
Oh my god the Cab is gutted. It looks like its been robbed. lol. 4 hours last night and another couple tonight.
Bonnet - Flat blocked, repairing slight blemishes, filled the screw holes for the bonnet catch ready for the aeroflush type (hopefully). Drill 20 holes in the vents at top to allow air flow to the heater fans and water drainage. Its a fibrglass bonnet and the vent never had holes. Lazy Alanman. The bonnets only been on since the accident (3 years) and I've gone through 3 paint jobs in some places. lol Spoiler - Flat blocked. Not much work needed really, but I have got rid of a couple of minor imperfections that have always been on it. And one randon stone chip. Boot - Jesus, we've never took boot off. There must be 6 or 7 layers of paint difference under the hinge. lol. I'm leaving that for Darryl to DA down, would take too long to do by hand. Headlight / Grill - Removed the last of the wrap, mesh and the headlights. Started flating and rubbing but not finnished yet. This is going to take ages but can only be done by hand. Rear bumper - Removed number plate and fed all the wires through for the reverse camera, jacked car up and removed bumper. One of tonights jobs is to flat this down, there's loads of stone chips in the arch just behind wheel. It huge off the car. Tryng to do as much as I can myself before it goes to Darryl. Front bumper - Still on car but will only take two minutes to take off. I need to leave most of this for Darryl too, cos when the wrap was removed some of the paint went with it too. OOPS!!. Other than the paint no major work. I do have some fog lights to go in somehow but that could be done when its back on the car after. Also took petrol flap off and flatted that down, as well as the hinge covers for boot lid. Last thing to go will be the mirrors. They'll be flatted and painted, no chrome mirror. yay. Tonight I'll have big pile of bits ready to go tomorrow morning. I'm a little scared cos its come so quick. I know its only November, but the show season is just round the corner. It'll be here before you know it. I am looking forward to the new look. I have never been able to stripper the car to this degree and have everything painted seperately. We've alway had specialist paint that needs to be painted all together on the car. So because of our choice of colour this year, Darryl will be able to do a propper thorough job. |

RE: *Member* Clare's BigCab
I recon we can write off 2009 as a bad year, we fuckin hated the wrap. Clare could not be arsed to clean it so we hardly went anywhere in it. It was just shit and a waste of £350
I plan on 2010 being a different story. A few years ago if you opened a mag there'd be a good chance of a picture of BigCab somewhere, either at a cruise or show. I knew there'd not be a picture in the mag from the Brid cruise, there was shit load of people round it but mags need to see new and fresh looking stuff. I want that appeal again, its been the same for so long it's almost gone invisible to the paps. But, watch this space, bigcab will not be invisible next year. |
