why not complement your work that bit more father and have your turbo rebuild to a higher spec while its off :-)

Money mate!

I'm not far of handing over the equivalent of a 2 yr old 370z for a pile of bricks so its just down to money

If I can find the cash I'll have a GT85r instead of the t28 Icon_smile

Okies....update time!

Tonight began the start of the end of the exhaust system, with the plan being to remove the original downpipe and pre cat, cat, elbow and manifold as well as the turbo.

We managed to free 2 of the downpipe nits fairly easily, one however has been (and currently still is) a pain. Tight space means the grinder could only get so much so were hoping to drop the turbo to make access better.

Whilst Lee was getting shards of metal in his eyes I managed to disconect the rear of the exhaust without too much hassle and the air filter and intercooler hot pipe assembly all came off.

The most suprising thing we found is that my turbo elbow is undoing itself!!!! 2 nuts have long gone and the bolt is loose and half unwinded!

Tomorrow I am going to drop the fluids out the engine, both oil and coolant so I can remove the turbo hoses again ready fo replacement.

Another hour after should see the manifold and turbo removed from the car and then the rebuild can begin.

I guess its the risk of modding.. shit is never 100% right with aftermarket parts on.. even if they make them for the car!!

London is the sole reason for a shorter update than I would have liked.

Fortunately I have a free weekend to get cracking on with stuff!

However night not completely ruined I've drained the coolant and removed the expansion tank so it's fully drained and ready for refilling and flushing. Also I've cleaned it and begun cleaning round it - a bit anal I know but might as well while things are off and wanna make the bay the main feature.

I've also dropped the oil and oil filter and removed the hoses connecting the cooler to the inlet and the water hoses

Got some more silicone to measure and my brakes are paid for so that's next weeks little project I will take some pics of the sorry state of her over the weekend but it's coming on nicely!

Apprently filling the expansion tank full of sand and giving it a good shake around is a great way of cleaning it up so it doesn't look all manky when it goes back on.

Just remember to remove the sand, make yourself an expansion tank sized castle on your back garden instead Icon_wink
