RE: *MAXXD* Clare's Rieger F40 Escort Cabriolet "BigCab" - Alanman - 13-01-2011 12:45 PM I've had an idea for the boot, and rough tested my idea and it looks cool in rough. No photos as my camera is shit and I want to leave it till its done properly anyway. RE: *MAXXD* Clare's Rieger F40 Escort Cabriolet "BigCab" - Alanman - 14-01-2011 12:10 AM Took front wheels off tonight to see what room we have for the new wheels. A little bit of a problem. We were thinking we were able to have about 10j but looks like we can't go so wide on front. The 20s are only 8.5j and there's less than 1 inch room at the back against the coil spring so looks like we're stuck with 8.5j. Boooooo Thankfully there's plenty of room at the front so looks like we can have about a 3 inch lip. So that should make us feel a bit better about the width. RE: *MAXXD* Clare's Rieger F40 Escort Cabriolet "BigCab" - Pyrotechnic - 14-01-2011 12:56 AM I bet you could go 10s. I bet there's more than an inch on the outside, so an inch either side of your 8 and a lower offset (which means more dish)... 9.5s at the very least. RE: *MAXXD* Clare's Rieger F40 Escort Cabriolet "BigCab" - Alanman - 14-01-2011 01:26 AM Lol. No 10s for us I'm affraid. There's no room on inside and not worth risking the arch going out any. A 9j is the absolute maximum. I don't think half inch will matter too much to be honest. I'd rather go with 8.5 and have full lock etc. Don't forget, even 8.5j is a shit load wider than an Escort was designed for. The car originally had 14 inch wheels with 6.5j. Lol. RE: *MAXXD* Clare's Rieger F40 Escort Cabriolet "BigCab" - Pyrotechnic - 14-01-2011 01:37 AM I suppose. My fronts rub, catch and scrape like mad, but they're metal and just move out the way, I guess fibreglass isn't so forgiving... RE: *MAXXD* Clare's Rieger F40 Escort Cabriolet "BigCab" - Alanman - 14-01-2011 02:05 AM It aint cheap either at £350 per arch. Lol. RE: *MAXXD* Clare's Rieger F40 Escort Cabriolet "BigCab" - OllieWestwood - 14-01-2011 01:04 PM Rivet on arches RE: *MAXXD* Clare's Rieger F40 Escort Cabriolet "BigCab" - Alanman - 14-01-2011 01:48 PM They technically ARE riveted on arches. lol. As long as the new wheels sit exactly like the chromes I'll be very happy. Non of this hellaflush malarky for us. Just nicely filled arch. I can lower it a tad again if I need too, but this \/ is on the 19s with the same suspension set up (i think??) and they filled the arches fine.

RE: *MAXXD* Clare's Rieger F40 Escort Cabriolet "BigCab" - Alanman - 15-01-2011 11:53 AM You and me both. lol. Not long now. I'm on it now, getting thing done. I'll be in the garage this afternoon tinkering. Not got a lot to do, well not like last year, but enough to keep me busy. Today I will hopefully have laid the O wiring for the new amp. A bigger hole is needed through bulk head for wiring, so while I'm on that I could do with tidying / repainting around and behind battery. Prob touch up a few other bits under there while the paint is out. Hopefully I will have time to remove the tiny little amp and wiring, reposition subs and mount our new monster amp. |
