RE: *Member* Clare's BigCab - J29SSC - 18-03-2010 03:58 PM It just gets better! Wish I had your dedication! RE: *Member* Clare's BigCab - Meatball - 18-03-2010 07:48 PM those intakes are the best thing ive seen, custom car wise brilliant. RE: *Member* Clare's BigCab - Alanman - 22-03-2010 02:27 PM Well, what can I say. The Fast Show weekend started off okay, we were even on time setting off from home, but we only got to J28 and the peice of old shit decided it was too much a cut out. We managed to get recovered home to find a wire has shorted behind dash and took a few other out while it was at it. When you see a shit load of smoke coming from back of dash you know there something not quite tickerty boo. lol. Had a quick look on Saturday but knew it was going to be a dash off job so disconnected battery and left it. Going to have dash out tonight and see how bad it actually is. Fingers crossed it'll be an easy fix. I was going to struggle with dash still on but I recon I need to take it all out to make sure I find all damaged areas as the wiring loom is at least 20 years old and has been in at least 3 cars that I know. Absolutely guttered, although a small part of me wonders if my life would be easier if it kept burning and end up a pile of ash at the side of the road. lol RE: *Member* Clare's BigCab - Aidan - 22-03-2010 07:35 PM im absolutely certain your life would be easier if it went up in smoke mate. but you wouldnt own bigcab anymore and that would be a disaster! im sure you'll get it sorted alan! you can do it! p.s sell me the merc rims lol. RE: *Member* Clare's BigCab - Alanman - 22-03-2010 08:59 PM If it went she'd want sommat else. And if I buy and new wheels you'll be the first person I call. Lol. RE: *Member* Clare's BigCab - Dubmodder - 24-03-2010 12:35 AM Gutted for you both. Old Escort (brittle) loom syndrome eh? On an aside. Pat yourself on the back mate. Those vents are the best looking Rieger vents I have ever seen. Just bloody awesome! RE: *Member* Clare's BigCab - Dusty - 24-03-2010 12:41 AM ye looks well nice m8 RE: *Member* Clare's BigCab - madmax - 24-03-2010 11:24 PM hi you two`s was nice seeing ya other weekend..only just recognised the car,,glad claire saw me was waving like a tw**. keep up the work yeah RE: *Member* Clare's BigCab - Alanman - 26-03-2010 06:55 PM We're getting there. Its still not fixed to a usable point yet. Long story short, some bad repairs of dodgy old Ford wiring a long time ago caused the Clifford immobiliser to fail. For the last 4 years, while the alarm has been in, its had way too much current passing through it and Saturday morning it decided it was just too much. Its now back to working (almost) after removing some damaged wire that werent needed, repairing some that were needed. Although the wiring seems all good and back as it should be, we're still getting problems with the fuel pump blowing fuses, 30 amp fuses too. This could be 1 of 2 reasons. Option 1: Before the Cab came back on the road, I swapped out the fuel tank and its possible I've trapped the fuel pump wires causing a short. Easy fix, reroute another feed to the pump. Going to check this tonight, but I recon its option 2. Option 2: The fuel pump itself is fucked and causing a short. Also easy fix......swap the pump. lol. Although we've still got a problem, we are a shit load happier today than we were Monday. Monday we though we needed a whole new loom and a new alarm, that would have been £600+. Today it looks like the worsed is a new (second hand) fuel pump at about £20. ps. I love this car. lol Alanman RE: *Member* Clare's BigCab - Aidan - 26-03-2010 07:53 PM Awesome (sort of)! Least it'll be sorted for the next show? |
